Job Summary:


This full-time position is responsible for coordinating and implementing tasks associated with the Gun Safety and Violence Reduction (GSVR) Collaborative. The GSVR tasks include engagement with youth/young adults, families and community members to reduce gun violence, increase gun safety, capacity building for partners, special events, and other activities to support children and families feeling safe in their neighborhoods and to build strong and healthy communities. This is an administrative role that plans and organizes community engagement events, supports implementation of other collaborative activities, supports monthly collaborative meetings, and other related duties. This position requires flexible work hours that include evenings and weekends. In addition, this position will participate in program reporting, budget related activities, and development and maintaining collaborative relationships with other partners and agencies.

Evaluation:


The Prosper Springfield Director, following adopted policies of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the Gun Safety & Violence Reduction Engagement Coordinator.

Reporting Structure:


The Gun Safety & Violence Reduction Engagement Coordinator reports directly to the Prosper Springfield Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and support the work of the GSVR collaborative to complete its goals and objectives outlined in the Theory of Change and Logic Models;
  • Coordination of program planning, implementation, and reporting;
  • Assist with program budget, including submitting purchase orders and receipts for program expenses;
  • Develop and implement outreach materials and media campaigns;
  • Plan, organize and implement community engagement events;
  • Prepare program documentation, reports and required paperwork in a timely manner;
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with key stakeholders and partners to ensure expedient and effective planning and implementation of initiatives/projects;
  • Work closely with contracted organizations to develop, collect, and input implementation data;
  • Engage community members to advocate for services;
  • Coordinate/lead meetings and develop events in coordination with community members with a focus on youth and young adults;
  • Provide weekly accomplishment reports to the Prosper Springfield Director;
  • Participate in relevant professional development and trainings;
  • Participate in CPO’s resource development/fundraising activities:
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, social work, public administration, human services, or a closely related field;
  • Minimum of two years’ professional paid work experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), and the ability to develop and maintain relationships within the agency, in the public and private sectors;
  • Strong computer skills, especially internet and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong time management skills, ability to maintain flexibility, and ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines and meet emerging needs;
  • Strong analytical skills including critical thinking, problem solving, and prioritizing information;
  • Excellent follow up and follow through;
  • Knowledge of websites to identify local resources and ability to leverage them to support successful program outcomes;
  • Experience working with volunteers and community groups from Springfield subgroup populations;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed;

Position Clarification:


The position of Gun Safety & Violence Reduction Engagement Coordinator is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on the funding requirements. This is a full-time, exempt position. Currently, grant funds are available for 3 years and 7 months. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
