Job Summary:


The New Day Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and program development for New Day, a purpose driven day center serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate services that promote stability, dignity, and pathways to housing and self-sufficiency.

Evaluation:


The Senior Director of Homeless Services, following adopted policies of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the New Day Director.

Reporting Structure:


The New Day Director reports to the Senior Director of Homeless Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work is performed in a fast-paced environment serving high-need populations
  • Regular interaction with individuals experiencing crisis situations.
  • Primary point of contact for New Day’s Homeless Services, including programs and critical care services
  • Ensures safe and healthy service delivery at New Day through the development and implementation of policies, programming, and training opportunities for staff, volunteers, and partner agency representatives
  • Ensures all safety policies and programming are Trauma Informed and helps fulfill CPO’s dedication to Inclusive Excellence
  • Takes prompt action to ensure Critical Incidents are addressed and documented
  • Ensures all safety plans for clients and team members are kept up to date according to policy and all volunteers, staff, and partner agency representatives are kept fully appraised of policies in a timely manner
  • Maintains records of funds received and funds spent; ensures all reporting is completed as specified by funding sources
  • Compile, complete, and submit monthly and other required reports
  • Assures quality services are provided to guests, providers, and the community by New Day service providers; works to identify problems in service delivery and to identify solutions
  • Identifies gaps in community resources and works to educate the community regarding these gaps
  • Researches evidence-based approaches to effectively providing and filling gaps in services
  • Meets in person with clients to complete assessment of client needs as needed
  • Maintains contact with partner agencies to maintain knowledge of resources available within the community
  • Researches additional resources and initiates partnership with those resource
  • Provides presentations to community groups and partner agencies regarding CPO’s Homeless Services programming and local resources
  • Strongly adhere to policies and practices outlined by Federal HMIS technical standards
  • Advocates for clients’ needs
  • Participate in CPO’s resource development/fundraising activities
  • Driving is an essential job function of this job position
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in homeless services, social services, or nonprofit leadership;
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and housing-first principles;
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (Class E).
  • Experience managing grants and government-funded programs
  • Knowledge of local homeless services systems and resources
  • Training/experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation

Position Clarification:


The position of New Day Director is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on the funding requirements. This is an exempt, full-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
