Safety & Support Specialist (Part-Time)
Job Summary:
The Safety & Support Specialist is responsible for fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment at New Day. This position emphasizes proactive engagement with guests, de-escalation of crises, and serving as the eyes and ears of the facility. The Safety & Support Specialist builds rapport with guests, responds to conflicts, and works collaboratively with staff to ensure the wellbeing of everyone in the space.
Evaluation:
The New Day Director, following adopted policies of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the Safety & Support Specialist.
Reporting Structure:
The Safety & Support Specialist reports to the New Day Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage with guests daily to build rapport, foster trust, and support a welcoming environment;
- Actively monitor the facility to identify and address potential safety concerns before they escalate;
- Respond to and de-escalate conflicts or crises using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches;
- Coordinate with staff to ensure smooth operations and consistent safety practices;
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of incidents and safety concerns;
- Provide referrals or connect guests with additional services as appropriate;
- Assist the New Day Director in any other duties, projects, and assignments as needed;
- Participate in CPO’s resource development/fundraising activities;
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds essential;
- Training or experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation, social services, or related field preferred;
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or crisis situations;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse populations;
- Must be reliable and punctual;
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Must demonstrate a professional and friendly manner in dealing with the Partnership’s staff, committees/task forces, clients, and the general public;
- Must demonstrate strong observation and documentation skills;
- Must be able to effectively communicate the mission and work of the Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Inc.
Position Clarification:
The position of Safety & Support Specialist is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on the funding requirements. This is a non-exempt, part-time position, up to 29 hours per week. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
