Job Summary:


The Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Organizer provides leadership in recruiting, scheduling, and training Crisis Cold Weather Shelter volunteers and operational support to Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership and shelter sites. The position is a component of the Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness (OAEH) and is located primarily at the O’Reilly Center for Hope.

Evaluation:


Following adopted policies and practices of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, the Continuum of Care Director will evaluate the Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Organizer.

Reporting Structure:


The Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Organizer will report to the Continuum of Care Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work with OAEH staff on campaigns to identify and recruit overnight volunteers for Crisis Cold Weather Shelter sites;
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for volunteers;
  • Coordinate calendars to ensure volunteer coverage on nights the Crisis Cold Weather Shelters are open;
  • Serve as primary point of contact for shelter leadership for volunteer-related needs and issues;
  • Provide daily updates regarding Crisis Cold Weather Shelter openings and closings during Crisis Cold Weather Shelter season;
  • Maintain and report on volunteer and guest records as requested;
  • Coordinate with Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership to ensure as many individuals seeking shelter as possible are able to access shelter;
  • Coordinate with Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership and other partners on transportation logistics;
  • Assist with evening warming center staffing and shelter sign-up prior to Crisis Cold Weather Shelters opening at night;
  • Treat all guests, volunteers, and partners with kindness and respect;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:


  • High School Diploma is required;
  • Proven written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet;
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse populations, including high risk and homeless households;
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Position Clarification:


The position of Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Organizer is a grant-funded position and is based on the funding availability. This is a non-exempt, part-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
