Activities & Outreach Specialist
Job Summary:
The Activities & Outreach Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating activities within New Day, including recovery groups, games, and therapeutic programming. In addition, this position engages in community outreach efforts, including direct street outreach and collaborative initiatives with partner agencies. The Activities & Outreach Specialist plays a key role in connecting guests with supportive services and spearheading a coordinated, multi-agency outreach response.
Evaluation:
The New Day Director, following adopted policies of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the Activities & Outreach Specialist.
Reporting Structure:
The Activities & Outreach Specialist reports to the New Day Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate a variety of in-house activities, including recovery meetings, games, and therapeutic or educational groups;
- Work with staff and volunteers to develop engaging and meaningful programming for guests;
- Lead and participate in outreach efforts in the community, including direct street outreach;
- Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate services and resources for individuals experiencing homelessness;
- Serve as point person for multi-agency outreach initiatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across organizations;
- Build rapport with guests and community members to encourage participation in activities and services;
- Maintain accurate records of activities, outreach efforts, and partnerships;
- Assist New Day Director in any other duties, projects, and assignments as needed;
- Participate in CPO’s resource development/fundraising activities;
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or another related field is required;
- Experience in outreach, group facilitation, social services, or related field preferred;
- Ability to engage individuals with compassion, respect, and professionalism across diverse backgrounds;
- Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple activities and outreach efforts;
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Must be reliable and punctual;
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, guests, and partner agencies;
- Must be comfortable facilitating groups, leading activities, and providing supportive guidance;
- Must be able to effectively communicate the mission and work of the Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Inc.
Position Clarification:
The position of Activities & Outreach Specialist is a grant-funded position and is based upon funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on the funding requirements. This is a non-exempt, full-time position: 37.5 hours per week. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
